Summer break is winding down, and that means more time behind the wheel. Morning drop-offs, after-school pickups, sports practices, the daily commute, it all adds up fast once the school year kicks back in.
A few minutes now can save you a headache later — especially when it comes to the parts most likely to leave you stranded.
Start With the Battery
A car battery works hard through a hot North Carolina summer, and heat wears batteries down faster than cold ever does. If yours is more than three years old, or you’ve noticed slow cranking when you start the car,
that’s worth checking now instead of finding out on a Monday morning drop-off line.
Listen for Starter Trouble
If your car has ever hesitated, clicked, or needed a second try to start, that could be the starter, not just the battery. The two get blamed for each other a lot, but they’re different parts with different fixes.

Check the Alternator Too
