Cooler Weather Is Coming.
Is Your Car Ready?

Three quick checks that keep you safe, warm, and on the road this fall.

Summer heat is behind us, and the shorter days and cooler mornings are right around the corner. It’s the perfect time to catch the small things before they turn into bigger ones. A quick fall check now means fewer surprises when the weather turns.

Start With Your Brakes

After a long summer of road trips and heat, your brakes have been working hard. Squealing, grinding, a soft pedal, or a shake in the steering wheel when you slow down are all signs it’s time for a look. Wet leaves and early-morning dew make good brakes even more important this time of year. Learn more about our brake services.

Make Sure Your Heat Works

The first chilly morning is the wrong time to find out your heater isn’t working. If your vents are blowing lukewarm air, your car takes longer than usual to warm up, or you notice a sweet smell inside the cabin, it could be low coolant, a thermostat issue, or a problem with the heater core. We’ll check your heating system and coolant so you’re not stuck shivering on the way to work.

Test the Battery Before It’s Cold

North Carolina summers are tough on car batteries, and the damage often doesn’t show up until the first cold morning, when your engine needs more power to start. If your battery is more than three years old or your car has been slow to crank, now is the time to test it, not the morning it won’t start. Read more about battery and alternator problems.

Fall is busy enough without car trouble. Bring your car to AutoMed and we’ll check your brakes, heat, and battery in one visit, so you’re ready for whatever the season brings.
