Brake systems are made up of a lot of components, and while pads and fluid are designed to wear over time, most other parts — like the master cylinder and brake calipers — should last the life of your vehicle. But problems do happen.

Brake fluid leak. A leak in the brake line or master cylinder can cause a gradual loss of pressure, making your brakes feel unreliable or unresponsive.

Contaminated brake fluid. Moisture and debris in the fluid can compromise the entire system over time.

Warped or uneven rotors. Rotors that wear unevenly can cause vibrations or pulling when you brake — a common sign something isn’t right.

Caliper issues. A stuck or malfunctioning caliper can cause uneven braking and overheating.
